Wainwright & Co are a medium sized business who required rebranding and a new website.
Central to Wainwright & Co's business was a focus on historic stone and the owner, Marcus Wainwright's reputation as one of New Zealand's foremost experts on restoration work. While researching stonemasonry I discovered the use of what were essentially the worlds oldest logos; the carvings on the cornerstones that medieval mason's would make to claim the buildings as their own. These carvings began the visual journey of the brandmark, which was adapted to give the additional feeling of the cornerstone- granite blocks placed in perfect balance to give an object strength- and to underline the meaning and symbolism of masonry. The brandmark is extremely simple and is instantly recognisable in large outdoor settings when the company is onsite and also reduces well on smaller print jobs. It is masculine, clean and gives a reliable corporate feel, appealing to the target audience of large organisations, councils and businesses
